Bluescreen unexpected shutdowns

Dell said to do a recovery and set it back to a date before the blue screens
began - they said we probably downloaded some software that was causing this
and that this was happening all of the time to their customers... So both me
and my sister in law did this and both of us starting having the blue screen
issue again in less than 24 hours. I was skeptical about this working and
expressed this to Dell and they said that was the only thing that they knew
about and that it would work. Well it didn't, so before I called Dell back
again to tell them they were wrong - I figured I would see if anyone here
knew anything?!?!
Thanks

How disgusting. Dell doesn't have a clue what is wrong and so they are
blowing smoke up your ass, telling you that the problem resulted from
something you did.

Try to get your money back on that lemon and buy an XP computer while you
still can.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem since I bought my Dell Inspiron 1420 a week ago.
The funny part is, my colleague who bought an HP with the same OS (Vista)
isn't receiving any blue screen at all! I've talked to them and said that it
might be the Aero system Graphics of Vista which is actually consuming a lot
of RAM.

What we did is to disable AERO by right clicking on the desktop click on
PERSONALIZE, click on WINDOWS COLORS AND APPEARANCE and select WINDOWS VISTA
BASIC instead of Windows AERO.

Aside from that, we also set our laptop's performance to BEST PERFOMANCE.
To do that go to START, CONTROL PANEL (see to it that you are on the control
panel home at the upper left side of the screen), then click on SYSTEM AND
MAINTENANCE, then go to PERFORMANCE INFORMATION AND TOOLS. On the left side,
choose ADJUST VISUAL EFFECTS then tick on ADJUST TO BEST PERFORMANCE.

I never got any blue screen after that.

I'm not a techy type of person but if it's the AERO graphics of Microsoft is
the culprit to all of these unwanted shutdowns and crash dumps, they better
have the solution available immediately.

Hi,

I've been running systems with aero without the slightest issue. What Dell
has done is given/sold you crappy hardware and convinced you that it's
Microsoft's fault they put substandard hardware in the system they sold you.
Call them back and tell them to either fix it or return your money.
