Sure - read on the usenet faqs past the bit about trolling and brush up on
help group etiquette and what to do when you find out you wrongly defamed a
company kiddo.
Wrongly?
I phoned in my order. I spoke to the guy. I told him I wanted to be
sure I would get the special price because it was a one day special.
He assured me that it would get his personal attention. He
overcharged me.
Some people are saying it is my fault I was overcharged, because I
chose not to do anything about it. That doesn't make it my fault. If
I call them (costs money for the long distance phone call) and they
say "sorry, can't help you" then my only option is to ship it back and
pray that I get a credit. Shipping costs time and money. So I chose
to not do anything, but that doesn't make it "my fault."
I chose to complain about it. If you still want to deal with that
company, go ahead, I won't stop you. But I have a right to complain
and warn others. As for me, I will only deal with big reputable
companies like Newegg. Little, poorly run operations like Directron
never do well because they are so eager to sqeeze a couple of extra
bucks out of each transaction they lose the possibility of repeat
business. I build at least one computer a year, and I am regularly
upgrading. Directron will never get a dime of that business.
As for the CPU, I put it into a top quality motherboard, where
everything else has always worked flawlessly, and despite a lot of
time playing around it still won't run at the rated speed. Maybe the
setup needs more tweaking, but I never needed to tweak an Asus board
before, so I think it is possibly a problem chip. I don't know, and
may never know. But with my experience with Directron so far I
wouldn't be surprised if they were knowing selling dodgy chips. If
I'd had a good experience with them they would have something called
"good will" and I never would have mentioned them in connection with
my unhappy experience. But they lost any possibility of good will by
either deliberately or carelessly overcharging me.
