...is the best also for me.

I've d/led tried 40tude, as you like it, and it seems a bit hard to learn,
but my main peroblem is, it seems to be an offline reader, as I find the
message bodies are still there after disconnection.

Is this so, or is it just the way I'm using it?

I don't want an offline only reader; I sort of worry about memory,

Dialog has offline capabilities. If you don't want to keep the read
messages, you can set this your choice under Group - Default group options -
Purge. In addition, remember to run File - Compact database every few days
to keep it small.
If you need further help, post in news.software.readers with [Dialog] in the
Subject: you'll get a lot of helpful answers there :-)

Been reading this thread to see if there is anything better than NewsExpress
v.2.01 (1997) by Ken Ng. Still available (Google search) and will run on Win95
- XP. I don't think it is multi-threading ...

Thanks, Maria, I found the bit you're talking about, also the obvious to
some "online" button, but I thought it meant the same sort of thing as OE
and IE. Silly me.

TBH, I'm very happy with Xnews, but maybe 40tude would suit me better if I
can learn it, if I can get over the learning curve, I'll practise on a
couple of groups

Thanx
