I didn't say it was - I said seeing-what-you-get was one click away
:-)

Indeed, hence that explains my astonishment when 1st Page 2000 was
recommended, even though the OP requested for "WYSIWYG that even
a dunce can figure out"

Which made me wonder if either 1stpage 2000 had a feature I'm not aware of,
or the defintion of WYSIWYG had changed.
Have to disagree, having not long ago been one of those complete
newbies with no knowledge of html at all, & having used 1st Page 2000
very successfully :-)

Such a comment again makes me wonder if 1stpage2000 has a WYSIWYG mode
after all. How in the world would you know how to say change the background
color for example if you didn't even know the most elementary html?

I suppose you meant that you learnt some html at the end of it right?

I started by using the menus and the buttons. I could see that they were
putting in what I (having used WordPerfect in the distant past) thought of
as codes, which I found out were called tags :-). And so it went on...then
I found an excellent on-line tutorial, and used that alongside 1st Page
2000 to explore what I could do with html...so yes, I did learn some html
at the end of it. But I was able to produce a decent webpage before that,
just by using the menus and buttons on the program.

Just checked in 1st Page 2000 btw. In Easy mode, you can change the
background colour of a document by clicking on the menu item "Format" and
choosing "Document properties". That brings up a dialog box which allows
you to set a background image and/or colour, as well as setting font
colours for text, links, visited links and active links. No html knowledge
required :-)
