Best free firewall?

ZoneAlarm totally broke my IRC file sends, and now it seems to break binaries
(yEnc) :/

I got this from the BNR2 newsgroup:

If you are using the latest version of ZoneAlarm, it is purposely mangling the attachment
information in the downloaded articles to "quaranteen" them as a safety precaution against
viruses. The fix is to uninstall the latest version.

Also, ZoneAlarm creates logs of the articles that it has mangled, which could be used to make
the article decoding routines more robust to work around this problem. So far, I have received
only 1 log entry and have modified the decoder to try to handle the articles based on that
example, but reports are that it still happens.

Or, open up Z-A's settings and modify same, so that extensions which are
presently being "changed" (.zl*, or whatever), then are permitted?
Un-installing is not required (imho, ymmv).
