Bebo

resolving bebo problem becoming my life's work

Hello. I am having exactly the same problem described by graffic and despite having tried everything above and everything that microsoft.com recommend I still get the unformatted, thumbnail-less bebo page.

It's becoming increasingly annoying as I can see that lots of other people are having the same problem, yet no-one has a solution or is even aware of what is causing this problem for so many people. Also 90% of people seem to be able to access the website no problem at all, so there isn't anything wrong with the site itself despite bebo's email saying it's down to a technical issue with the site.

Totally at a loss to resolve this one. If anyone can offer the solution I'd be eternally grateful.

At the command prompt type ...

ipconfig /flushdns (press enter)

then type ...

ipconfig /registerdns (press enter)

... note the space in each line.

No problem ...

click Start then run and type in cmd then click ok

A black popup window will open ... type the following;

ipconfig /flushdns (press enter)

then type ...

ipconfig /registerdns (press enter)

ouch! that is very minimalistic ... they won't be blocking your site then.

hmmm, nice 'gay' site ... sorry, I use that word in the old sense, meaning bright & cheerful. :thumb:

You may, if you haven't already, ask them if they are inadvertently blocking the Bebo site ... NTL once did that to me, I fortunately got a tech on the end of the line who knew his stuff. It was eventually 'fixed' but I had to use a Proxy Server in the meantime ... ask you ISP what alternative Proxy Server can you use.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas. :(

Does this link work (a bit different to the one before):

http://www.bebo.com/StyleSheet1.css?v=9

If so, you may be able to trick your way around it.

The link showed a page with loads of script nothing else...

body { margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align:center; font-family: Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; color: #2d2d2d;}

Yep thats fine. That is the file that you can't load from the s.bebo.com subdomain for some reason.

However, it may be possible to load it from the www.bebo.com address like you just did by adding it to your "hosts" file manually. I don't know how to do this myself, but you want it to redirect s.bebo.com to www.bebo.com . I would not recommend doing this personally as it is a very unclean way of doing it, and I don't even know if it would work - but it is possible that it might.

Or, you could always access the bebo site through a proxy and see if that works.

Ye the guy at UWclub had no clue, they don't block websites "apparantly" - neither does he know what proxy to use, this is getting really annoying now.

cheers anyway

I did a quick google and this one came up:

http://www.freeproxy.ca/
Well I was thinking of the way NTL Cable use their proxy servers ... forgeting that graffic is on ADSL

graffic, can you look see if you are using a proxy ...

Open Control Panel
Double-click Internet Options
Click on the tab Connections
Click on button LAN Settings
UNcheck Use a proxy server ... (this is the bit I'm looking for ... is it UNchecked?)
Click OK to exit LAN settings
Click OK to exit Internet Options

I'm clutching at straws now ...

Does anyone know how to enable cookies? Ive found a proxy that works if you enable cookies..

A quick search of the internet - (using google for example) will give you that information -
here are the results of my search anyway!
follow the instructions below for the browser version you are using. (from
http://www.google.com/cookies.html)
Mozilla Firefox (1.0 final release and earlier)

 •
 • Go to the "Tools" menu.
 • Select "Options".
 • Select the "Privacy" icon in the left panel.
 • Check the box corresponding to "Allow sites to set cookies".
 • Click "OK" to save changes.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+
 •
 • Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.
 • Click on the "Privacy" tab.
 • Click the "Default" button (or manually slide the bar down to "Medium") under "Settings".
 • Click "OK".
As i said in my post on cnet,I can access bebo perfectly using this proxy site http://www.xroxee.com/
