SO they want you to believe, but .......... I'll give you a clue ........

IP address for www.grisoft.com is 193.86.103.19

The free version of AVG 7 (same as I use) connects to guru.grisoft.com,
which as we all know is really hard to connect to, and very slow.

So what happens if you put the following line in your HOSTS file ??

193.86.103.19 guru.grisoft.com

Your own computer *knows* to connect to www.grisoft.com

Connects instantly and download is MUCH faster.

I didn't stop using AVG for memory usage, but more because it is
a PITA in comparison to Avast. Just install Avast and forget
about it. If you use the Avast screen saver, it will run a
system check while the computer is idle.

Barney, I'm with you on this one. I used to use AVG 6. Before
installing AVG 6 I thought I would go and try another antivirus
product.

I didn't like AntiVir (especially its non-auto updating). So I tried
Avast and I like it.

Dont bother with AVG 7, it used to be user friendly, now it's slow,
complicated, and I found it capable of freezing my emails etc etc. John

You mean **yours** is slow and freezes your email. I'm running it on 5
different systems with no problems. Not slow. No freeze. No problem.

Not user friendly? Huh? It's been improved ... more usable than before.
Quite satisfied.

Heh! I guess you saw through my typo where wrote "Before installing
AVG6" when I meant "Before installing AVG7".

Seems to be two camps when it comes to AVG7: those who struggle with
it and those who are pleased with it. I think I will play safe for
now and let Grisoft shake out any buglets.
