Hi Marge,

Does she have the Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 Upgrade CD? You
can fix it, by doing a repair of the operating system from the Windows XP HE
CD.

Attached are the instructions for doing so.

Hello to the community, was really in a tail spin. New to all this and did
not know how to reach my replies but in searching I found help and success
with F8. Took a while going through the safe modes but here I am on my own
comp.
To the lady who had no success wiith F8 may this newbie suggest going back
on earlier date.
Disregard other request from me. Thanks so much. Keep up the good work.
Unfortunately nothing in the MS help ?? addressed my prob. bye

I am glad you put your two cents in. I will certainly check into the "Get
Data Back" utility. I believe, now that you mention it, when I was looking
through products months ago I saw a Symantec product (I don't recall the name
of it) that does data restoring. If you have an opinion on whether the
runtime is better than the symantec I would appreciate any input you can give
me about that.
Thanks for your two cents, which is actually worth alot more than that!

Hi Randy,

Do the 3 finger salute and bring up Task Manager at boot. When the Task
Manager is showing, click on File, then click New Task (Run) and type in
Explorer and click OK.

Once Explorer is started and everything is booted up, locate your
operating system Hard Drive in My Computer and right-click on it and click
Properties. Click Tools. Click Check Now. Check both Options. Click Start
and click Yes to Schedule and reboot to run Chkdsk.

Note: If Explorer is missing where it can't run, then type in msconfig and
click OK. Click Expand File and restore Explorer.
