Is there a way I can assign one of the many useful Function Keys to Mute the
Speaker?

I use iTues and Windows Media Player, though would just prefer a way to mute
the whole system.

Thanks,
Scott<-

If there's a way, I don't know it, but you might want to buy one of the
"Multimedia" keyboards that have extra keys providing such functions.

This discussion might point you in the right direction. There's a few
steps involved but it should do what you're looking for. I think the
program was originally written for Win95 but it should work with later
versions.

Perfect! Thank you.

I Downloaded Mute.Exe and then I use WinKey which allows me to assign
programs to the Windows Key.

So I've Assigned Windows-F6 to Mute/Unmute

Works Great! Now when the receptionist calls I'll be able to turn off the
music from blaring in her ear.. (-;

I use a free utility called "Volume Tray" - it allows you to set up
all sorts of hot keys, e.g. for changing volume and muting and many
more. Get it here:-

I did end up downloading this too, though It seems to Mute the volume
everytime I go to increase or decrease the volume. The Mute hotkey does not
seem to unmute it either...

Do you have this problem?

Thanks,
