I never realised that they sold Chevettes in the US as well. GM also
made them here in the UK.
I'd like to add that I never knew that GM made some car models that
weren't sold in the USA.
And the UK version had the driver on the right side of the vehicle as
well I'd have to assume. Right-hand drive vehicles are pretty cool.
I had a RHD postal jeep that I drove for four years. It started out as
'normal' postal, but that got a make-over as well, with a 400 Small Block
Chevy, 3" lift kit, 30" tires, dual-exhaust, custom interior with Camaro
bucket seats, full gauge set, and a killer Bose sound system. And of
course, it ended up being painted flat black. I really wish I would have
taken pictures of all my projects.
On that page, the column to the right, the top B & W Chevette photo
actually looks kind of sweet, with the fender flairs and all. The specs
there say it came with a 2.3L engine at one point. That's huge for this
car. That was never offered here, although Hooker (as in Hooker Headers)
made a motormount/header kit to shoehorn a Buick 3.8L V6 into a Chevette.
That was the original plan for mine until I got bit by the 4-wheel drive
bug.
chevettes.com seems to have galleries of all the different worldwide
versions. The station-wagon version looks a lot like a Vega Wagon.
HOLY CR*P !!!!!! They've got a page with 4x4 conversion pics.....sweet
!!!
