Thank you for the kind words and congratulations to you for the honour
you received from Netscape.

As you may know, a number of the "champions" here in this newsgroup are
Microsoft MVPs, so it seems Bill Gates not only woke up, but also
recognized the value of acknowledging and supporting people who help in
these groups.

Not if you snip properly

Touche! Nice one, Edwin.

Snipping is indeed the mark of thoughtfulness towards one's usenet
peers. Or of respect towards them. I try to act respectful towards even
those whom I don't respect. Don't alway succeed, of course.

In fact, I'm a word nerd. I get a kick out of tossing a few odd ones
into my column, just to see if the pervicacious editors will weed them out.

Your welcome.

I do not know if MVPs came after Champions or before.

Now if we could only convince you to post the way folks read pages<sigh>

Best

Couple of reasons I seldom snip include the fact that not all ISPs pick
up all messages and not everyone reads every post in a thread. Most
newsreaders let one skip to the bottom using Ctrl End..

Well, that and your time on sec.news...... <s>. Most times, a lot can be
cut out, retaining just what's being discussed. It makes for cleaner,
faster reading for all, but does take a couple of seconds by the poster.

I've not noticed that your posts are notoriously un-snipped, btw. There
are a few who are either arrogant, thoughtless, or clueless, or some
combo.....present company excluded, of course.....

When a post looks too long I usually do not even read it:-))

I am one of those, but not for Microsoft, Netscape, any printer
manufacturer, or any other computer/IT company/group.

I am a member of a similar group called TiVo AllStars, that provide
excellent peer support for the TiVo DVR products in TiVo's own support
forum, as well as some other message boards, and have earned that
recognition from TiVo Inc.

Well it goes to show that enthusiasts with some technical knowledge or
understanding are a very valuable resource to manufacturers, and some
companies are beginning to recognize the value in that, and awarding it
in some fashion.

Good on you, I hope they at least give you a discount on your next TiVo.

They don't (I can get them cheap enough secondhand), but being a TiVo
Allstar does have benefits, of which I can't discuss.
