Specifically what I am looking for is this:
I have some folders (business related) that contain txt files, doc's,
htmls,jpegs etc. What I would like is a setup similar to ACDSee's Browser;
the ability to see the contents of the folder in thumbnail (or details)
form and then be able to have a preview window to sneak a peak at the
contents of each file. (most files?)
Irfan would be usable, if it had a built in viewer window, as opposed to
opening the files in a seperate window.
I have found explorer replacements/image viewers that get "close" to what I
want, but each has a failing (or two).
FmEdit98, freeware, whose later incarnations became payware, it has an
inbuilt view pane. The view pane is made up of tabs for graphics, text,
html, office97, and zip. Just, I have a very foggy memory that there was
a tad of bugginess about this program. Cannot remember now....
The other thing I cannot remember is regarding PowerDesk, how satisfactory
it is as far as its view pane? I only remember that sendto was unavailable
with it, reason I uninstalled.
I am seeing on my drive a program, AC Browser, which I'd installed but
not gotten around to using. At a quick look, it shows to do previews with
images. But no other fileypes that I notice. Not browser view of htms, for
example. Its interface is terribly busy, so I'm not going to try to figure
it out as now...
All I can say at the moment is what I posted earlier. Virtual Explorer, it's
worth taking a glance at it. It's self-contained and simple, does no harm.
