improves the firewall, adds a pop-up blocker to IE and runs fine. I have
been running IE SP2 RC2 since it was released, a few months ago, with 0
problems. I installed the final SP2 yesterday morning and all is well. I
say what are you waiting for?
The downside is it's 266MB
What is the performance hit?

I use an excellent alternative mentioned in this group, so this isn'timproves the firewall
I run Firefox, not IEadds a pop-up blocker to IE
That's yet to be seen... some people are reporting conflicts withand runs fine.
Can you guarantee the same for everyone else?I have been running IE SP2 RC2 since it was released, a few months ago, with 0 problems.

Better than google toolbar (mainly in blocking web dialogs).
Excellent User interface (hotkey to bypass, whitelist, information
bar, optional sound etc the works), excellent functionality. As
always MS is not really a innovator, but darn are they really good at
following up.
IE now also gives you more control over the activex controls, and BHO
installed in your computer, you can view, disable, enable them as you
wish. Much like how BHOdemon does it now actually.
The windows security center which is supposedly a one stop place to
keep track of whether your firewall, antivirus, browser settings are
updated. It doesn't recognise Kerio 2.15 , not sure if it does other
freeware favourites like Sygate though.
It's own Windows firewall I believe still only blocks inbound. Though
it gives you slightly more control on what port/program is allowed to
accept inbound and from where.
For antiviruses it recognises Etrust (1 year tie in), it might
recognise AVG,AVAST etc, but again I have not tested.
All this is just fluff really, I don't need a MS center to tell me to
update my antivirus or turn on my firewall.
So far, everything works fine on my computer, fingers crossed.

says will "perform differently" after installing SP2.
Guess what? Microsoft Office is one of them. As is almost all of the
antivirus programs, Kerio Personal Firewall, and other stuff.
What do they mean by "perform differently"? Who knows? They don't
say specifically what the issues are for each program.
