Anyone having trouble downloading from Computer Associates

Thank you. I thought of this, and I agree it's an option. I think I have
it narrowed down to the CA server, as I've downloaded two other FTP
program files from different sites tonight with no problem at all.
This issue seems directly related to CA at this point and I'm awaiting
an answer from their support.
Many thanks for your interest.

I've renewed my EZAnti Virus and am trying to download the new version
from their site. I'm using all their suggested path for doing this. I'm
consistently getting 35% of the download and then an intercept telling
me that the server has reset and the program can't be downloaded. [snip]

You might have better luck using a downloader program, like
StarDownloader. (http://www.stardownloader.com/) The behaviour you
describe is identical to that experienced by many people trying to
download a Lindows iso, which was supply-constrained. These download
accellerators seem to solve the probem. It did for me.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Larry

I renewed last night (my 3'rd with them ) and got the new codes, which
I'm holding off for the next several days to wait for my expiration date
as they suggest. I have version 6.1.7.0.
After I renewed and got the codes, I noticed the new version was
available 6.2.0.28.

May I ask what they charged you to renew? I also tried to renew but they
want $19.95 instead of the usual $9.95. I am NOT going to renew at that
price. I will switch to another program if that is the case. My
understanding from the beginning was that the charge would be $9.95
initially and then $9.95 per year for renewals. My personal opinion is that
this company Computer Associates has reneged on their agreement and is no
longer to be trusted.

This is a bit confusing to me. I checked the website and read the notice
on the renewals going to 1995. Mine went through last night at 995. I
believe the new rate might only apply to people purchasing the program
now and not pro rated for those already in the program.
This is the only thing I can figure since my renewal went through fine
at 995.
It is a bit ambiguous, and they should make it more clear if this is the
case.

OK, thanks a lot. I will go back and look at it again. I like the program
and would like to renew if it is for $9.95.

BTW, I forgot to mention, I regularly use a FTP program (WS_FTP) to check
their FTP server for updates to the program at:
ftp.ca.com/pub/myeTrust/apps

The filename is always EZAntivirus.exe, so you have to watch the date/time
stamp and the file size to check for updates. The current file is listed as
051404 09:42 and 4321072 bytes.

You can also check for updates to the virus signature database at:
ftp.cai.com/pub/myeTrust/sigs/10.5
The current update is aup_5483.exe for example. You just download the
latest file (highest numbered) to your program directory and execute it.

Many thanks, and good luck with the renewal.
