There appears to be a problem with kb942615 and IE6. You suggested in other
posts that user should turn off antivirus and antispyware programs, remove
kb942615, install kb942615 and then start av and aspy programs back up. Here
you suggest to install kb942367. I'm wondering if the problem that users are
experiencing is really understood.
I saw a reference to a registry hack posted by another MVP in another group.
I just can't find it, now. I wonder if it is something about the combination
of Windows XP and MS Internet Explorer 6. I have not had any trouble after
the latest updates, but I am running Windows MCE 2005 (based on Windows XP
Pro, but without the NT Domain capabilities) and MS Internet Explorer 7.
I also wonder what happens if one resets to a machine state prior to the
updates, does a thorough check for malware, uninstalls the AV and AS
applications after verifying a clean machine, installs the updates, and
re-installs the AV and AS applications. Just a wild shot in the dark because
I don't have the problem, nor the OS+browser combination which seems to be
associated with the problem.
