They go through pretty much the same thing every time.

Except this time there are very valid concerns with the new OS and
problems are much greater than there ever has been in the past few
versions. Vista is a waste of code that could of better bene spent
fixing what should of been fixed in XP instead. The extra stuff (Aero,
3D taskswitch, gadgets) would been a shoe in for a XP Plus Pack.

The problem is software companies needed a way to get peopel to buy new
versions of their products, which is a concern when so many have good
working version and saw no reason to upgrade. That means less revenue
for the big software comapnies and we can't have that now can
we.......... release a new OS, make many of the higher profile apps fail
to install or run, there by cerrate an excuse to get a new (and often
more bloated) version of what you already had that doesn't do anything
new.

Yep, what a great world we live in.

Chris Pirillo couldn't 'tech' himself out of a paper bag without somebody
else Googling the answer for him so he could steal it and call it his own.
And then sell it to his worshippers.
Talk about a 'wannabe'. Sheesh.

Heck, that my opinion of most of the MVP's here. <giggle>

before saying all these saucy stupid remarks ...

do you have any real knowledge about who Chris is?

He was born with a mouse in the hand... (not a rodent a computer mouse)

You should have read his feedback for the vista betas...

whooooo he had the ability to see every stupid detail and report them...
but I then said to him .. forget the details.. see the big picture...
the big picture is that vista sucks..

and you can try all you like with your negative attitude to misinform the
world
and spread lies.. but the truth will shine despite your efforts...

you are a loser

He doesn't even seem like all that much of a geek to me. He said
nothing about how he attempted to get any of these 'problems'
resolved.

It as a review you simp, not a tech guide or how to. Many of the things
described don't exactly HAVE a fix yet and you knew that, too.

BFD! From what I've read (from him) he may have been born with a "mouse
in the hand"...but from all outward appearances he didn't have "a brain
in his head"!
If he's a "geek" then he's really and truly a "stupid geek".
And trust me, there are a lot of those around these days.

You are the loser following blindly behind Chri$$y and his bullshit. He is
the one that spouts half truths and myth as fact. You and those like you
need to wake up and quit following this POS. Yes I know about Chri$$y and
those that he has ground under his boot heel. The man is an idiot, and cant
even handle constructive critisism, just try it on his web site and see your
post disapear.

XP was just as buggy as Vista is now when it was released. Vista will be a
great OS, just give it time. With proper testing and research you can build
a great Vista machine that is productive and can be used daily. Chri$$y has
decided to follow the rest of the idiots that blame MS for not having
drivers when it is the manufacturers responsibilty.

its not only the geeks anymore protesting.... I said something about vista
to someone
that is not a tech..and she said>> Oh that? She said... its horrible...
everyone hates it!
How do you know this??? I asked...
Its all over the forums, I reciveve emails talking about it, on blogs..
everyone hates it!

I rest my case
Jim;

I can only speak for myself;
OEM now for over 8 years, small shop with loyal customers. Whenever someone
comes in for Vista I always ask them if their hardware is compatible and
that the drivers are available, well surprise 80% of walkins have no clue
what I'm talking about, I invite them to bring in their box and I inspect
the hardware for free,(Have a nice list build up by now of what is NOT
compatible) just to make sure that what they have is compatible so that they
are not disappointed and become a disappointed basher like so many.
If I read the post's here and on other forums you can see that the problems
addressed the most are INCOMPATIBILITY issues, Microsoft warned about this
last year I believe.

On my personal box, (Not really top of the line) I see perfect stability, a
5.9 WEI, and editing movies with Pinacle is a breeze compared to XP, multi
tasking jeeehssssssssssss, it is a joy and nothing becomes unstable as this
was under Xp the case.
I am not a Microsoft lover in any way, I think their Monopoly should come to
an end BUT, what is the alternative Hmmmmmmmmmm?
Linux? Oh Boy I wont even touch that subject!
I think it is to bad that your Vista box ruins your computing pleasure, and
maybe you and many others just expected to much, don't know I just know that
I will never go back to XP.
Have a great day

Frank;

Chris is nothing, the show he started out with together with Leo LaPorte was
carried entirely by Leo! Chris just rolled into that on the right time and
place, if I read his blog, I can't stop thinking......who is sponsering this
pc freak?

Well according to his article it was a new install, and its not really his
fault if they hardware he had at his disposal wasn't fully compatible, but
he didn't say the hardware was the issue so you are only assuming. Chris'
assessment is bang on with my own and so many others' so it's no surprise.

As for speed difference, from my own experience on no less than 8 distinct
Vista boxes from customers (plus what I've tested in stores before) Vista
as considerably slower than XP. Those who say otherwise are testing wit ha
tainted/overloaded/infected XP install, guaranteed. Every test we ran with
an untainted install of XP, either fresh or one with several common
applications on it (but 100% malware free) ran so much quicker.

If only people like you who seem to feel everything Microsoft does is new
and improved and warranted would get your heads out of your asses and do
some real world testing you wouldn't look so stupid.
Real world testing huh?
Any sugestions?
Have 4 boxes running Vista, beta tested it for many months NO PROBLEMS!!
Am not a Microsoft fan but when I think of the alternative I shiver!
And just for your information so keep it private will ye, I don't have my
head up my arse like many of you bashers do! (Nasty Gin, and eye rolling)

Yeah I watched the screen savers on techtv for a couple of years when it
first aired in the '90's and you're right, Leo was the show. It was fun!
But it was easy to tell from the git-go that he was the one who knew a
bit from a byte.

Naw, the big picture is that your opinions, which is all they are, are
idiotic.

Another prediction of mine is coming true.. the geeks of all the world
(who ....
"think they know?"

I can get behind that.

If all the 'know it alls' left the world would be a much better place.
Less obfuscation, more honesty, less personal bias, more clarity, less
sniveling, more enjoyment

Less, Less, Less, Less
all gone .... :)

play some nice music, the geeks are gone, the geeks are gone.

I've had few problems with it. No matter what the new OS [new, at least,
to my computers] there are near always small glitches and considerations.
That is to be expected as I don't buy new computers with the OS
pre-installed. I usually build them myself and install the OS on my own.
So there's always something ..

.. with Vista, I had to figure out why my Logitech camer a didn't work and
why the printer, although it could print when directly hooked, couldn't
network with a computer running Vista. These were worked out one way or
another w/o undue difficulty.

All's said and done, I'm quite happy with Vista's performance.

How could you be so content with Vista in its current state? There are so
many bugs in the built in apps and in explorer.exe. The view settings
problem mentioned in the OP link is very frustrating for me as well.
Extremely annoying!

The core of the OS is very stable though, due to its rock solid Server 2003
heritage, and I have not seen one BSOD.

Why don't you go into the Reliability Monitor and save the .xml file and
attach it here. Then you will have proved how reliable you find Vista<SP1.
You must have a lot of application failures, just like everybody else,
unless you don't use the built-in apps at all.

ss.

maybe you and many others just expected to much,

Youre darn right I expected more after 5 years, thousands of people working
on the OS and millions of dollars!

Vista is only a bad shadow of what longhorn was ment to be.
Its a joke compared with what COULD have been done!

Actually there are fixes and simple ways around the 'issues' he is using as
examples.
True Geeks know this, and also know why this guy is either a moron or lying.

Your remarks demonstrate you are trolling here, pure and simple. Go to
SlashDot, they applaud your brainless rants.

Unless you have some 'substance' to add, move along...
