Art's not anonymous, just a little curt with folk who make the same
mistakes of confusion we've all seen so often. I too notice those
misplaced efforts (using ad/spyware detectors in place of AV scanners
and vice versa) and am tempted to toss in a pinch of sarcasm, but
usually reserve it for the truly deserving. <g>

Fortunately, some AV vendors are including spywares, adwares and dialers in
their def files since a few weeks.

You are right of course, I am ignorant about a lot of
things in computing and I do tend to ask advice in the news
groups when I don't know something. In this case I found
the answer from Michel Doucet who treated me with respect,
unlike yourself. If nobody wanted to ask questions or seek
advice, then we could do away with newsgroups couldn't we?
Regards,
Ignorant Vic.
Vic,

The operative word is _ask_. Making statements ain't askin'. ;)
So, ask, learn how to ask Q, and you'll get answers.

I hope your confidence that you'll never need help here again in the future
isn't misplaced.

Actually, that's nothing new. KAV has included such detections with
their "extra" defs for a long time. While I use those defs, I don't
count on any one "detect everything" av super scanner. I think it's
wise to use AdAware and Spybot as well, at the present time.

I agree, for sure.
