No, you are just "boring".

Excellent.

Many thanks for the links, Alias. I have a couple of clients who use
Autocad extensively (well, being Architects, they would). The lack of a
suitable CAD program has been one of the minus factors in selling Linux
to them, but given that their Autocad licences cost them £2500 per
year and the o/s is free your links are really useful.

That's a lot of money for software. Does it bring you your slippers and
pour the wine?

:-)

It ought to... and if you want to run Revit, Autodesk's 3D program
it'll cost £4300...

Gosh, you could buy a car with that or put down a payment on a house.

But I wanted YOU to tell me how to do it. You are so helpful otherwise.

Then again, I shouldn't place too much confidence in a person who is
afraid to post with their "real" name, especially when they just post
opinions. It's like an anonymous letter to the editor. I take no stock
in the verbiage.

Why do you find it offensive that people like Alias and myself value our
privacy on the internet? It makes you sound deranged to take offense at
that.
Now, if one were to post "Why don't you try Linux. What it does with the
supplied programs, which are numerous indeed, it does very well. Give it
a try. You may find it to your liking." I would find that to be an
honest answer.

Boohoo. Our wording isn't exactly what Mr. MVP Dick Urban specifies it
should be.
But to say that Linux cures all ills is just wrong. It doesn't. It has
it's own set of problems.

Who said that. I have not seen anyone say that in this group. We have
been pointing out that it does not have some of the problems that
windows has. Please provide an example of where anyone says "Linux
cures all ills" to back up your statement here.

Alot of juggernauts out there like MS now (Symantec, Adobe, AutoCAD).
They all have big cash cows, most charge obscene prices for their
software, and they all employ draconian forms of DRM in their products.
For work recently, I just purchased a couple more full seats of Acad
Mech 2007 for approx $4000 USD, and that was on sale.

William,

Your observation regarding the Postings within these Forums, is too
accurate.

There was a time that MVPs provided sincere and accurate technical
information, with all previous versions of Windows (does not include
Vista).

Today, these Vista Forums have evolved into little more than a bully-pit
for
many MVPs posting arrogant, malicious and hostile posts simply the result
from their gross lack of knowledge regarding Vista.

When the MVPs do not have a clue for properly and technically addressing
user Posts, too frequently they just make hostile retorts demonstrating
their
lack of knowledge regarding Vista.

The Vista OS is so different from all previous Microsoft OS the arrogance
displayed by many MVPs is not only insulting, their arrogance is entirely
disrespectful toward Microsoft’s integrity and reputation.

Seemingly, some MVPs, and others, make Post for simply encouraging the use
of non-Microsoft Products, and then advertize that using other OS and/or
browsers is superior to Microsoft Products.

When MVPs publicize how they use an OS that is not-Microsoft’s OS, perhaps
defines why they demonstrate such gross lack of knowledge of Vista,
BitLocker, DEP, EFS, IE 7, and Defender; achieving nothing other than
insulting Microsoft’s Integrity and Reputation.

Thank you Richard. I get the impression from these Linux evangelists that the position of sliced bread in the universe was secure until Linux was created.
You have made my point William. <grin>

In other words, you do not have a clue as to how to install it and provide
clear direction how to for another person. The way you praise Linux, I get
the impression that it is easier and better than even OS X.

OK I'm going to give you a chance here.

I have Ubuntu 6.06 installed as a boot option on my computer. Please
tell me in easy and numbered steps "exactly" what I have to do to
install AutoCAD 2005. Tell me what I have to type in as commands and
where I have to type these commands. Tell me where to find the various
modules that I may have to access in order to accomplish this install.
When I do everything you say I would expect AutoCAD to be running as
well as it runs in Windows.

Get me going here and I will no longer challenge you on your Linux posts.
