about pricelesswarehome program lists

I thought the main problem is that there are two lists.
1: The PL2005 list of progs as selected by acf
2: The list of progs mentioned on acf
And if they look too similar there can be some confusion.

There's agreement that confusion is bad. The OP initially thought he was
looking at a PL. He figured out that it was a program info list but
there *was* an initial period of confusion. IMO splitting the site into
two domains or subdomains would not alleviate this type of confusion.

There hasn't been any discussion re: What is the *main* problem?

re: two lists - make that 5 - The pricelessware.org site displays PL2004
as the current list (a question about why the sites don't "match" came
up recently) and there are four lists on the PWH site: PL2003, PL2004,
PL2005 and the program info list.

Mangling a quote from The Twilight Zone: There are many ways to be
confused. We have been discussing one of them. ;)

The same thing happened to me a few days ago.
I clicked on a link here in acf and came to the pricelesswarehome site. I
saw a list of programs where the top position was held by a babbya
program by aa fuzzy.

I was a little shaken by that experience, before I realized that it was
not a list of priceless freeware I was looking at, but a list of programs
mentioned in acf.

If we had established a system like in old nonags site, where every
description of a PL(current year) program was marked with a symbol, it
would make it easier to see what programs are PLW progs.

It could be a banner with the text "Priceless Freeware", or a cute duck,
or whatever, as long as we use it year after year so we can recognize it
immediately.

That sounds like a traumatic experience. ;)

Yeah but. . . The prog. info list is the "retirement home" for PW apps
(IIRC around 20-25 percent of the list is PW). The PW column lists all
PW programs and the last year they were on the PL. That would harder to
do that with symbols.

Aggravation. . . Last night I couldn't access the PWH site (404) -
today the page says they're upgrading the server. I hope they finish
*soon*.

Yes I noticed this as well, has been down for over 12 hours.
I'm a bit lost without it. The PWH site is usually my first port of call
when I'm on the hunt for info.
Hope you are having a pleasant Easter, although looking at Calendar Magic,
I see you don't have holidays at this time like we do here. :)

I'm glad you're finding the site useful (when it's there) - still down
(rats). :( re the hunt for info - when I'm trying to update info about
an app sometimes the only Google results are links to the PWH site - I
usually mutter "I know *that* dummy!" before trying a different search. ;)

Happy Easter Bambam. I hope you enjoy your holidays. I'm not jealous in
the least - when you're retired *every* day is a holiday. :)

It's starting to feel like Spring here (even though we still have snow
on the ground). Famiiy dinner coming up in a few hours - I must start
preparing my small contribution to the feast soon.
