Jeez, I assume you had some point in that long spin of verbosity
obscurity and adjectivity but it looks like you should learn to use
the OT and no-archive tags. It's a real stretch to see anyrelevant,
legitimate point to it all.

The OP said the host was off, not in a low-power mode. The OP said he
saw something "pop on" [the monitor]. Does that sound like the host
is off?

I just don't think the post did the OP much good, that's all, due to an
overuse of the technical side of the language used.

"Off" has various meanings, I'm sure you're aware. The host may well
have been "off" in the jargon the OP read about, and awoke on command.
But I sure didn't get much of any good description from your prose;
that's what I was getting at. Perhaps a synopsis would be in order for
posts like that? I can speed-read/scan etc., but most can't, especially
those not experienced with all this. They need simplicity to start
with.
And since I'm in vetting mode, you also like to use dissimilar words
that mean the same thing with explanation, just like a lot of writing
about the sytem being "Off" does.

Cheers,

Twayne

The monitor could be on while the computer is off. My Samsung
monitor will flash an Analog/Digital message.
Seems the manufacturers have decided not to put a switchable AC
outlet on the back of computers anymore.

You know, that's a good point haven't thought about in a long time. I
don't recall now whether they were switched or not but I think they
were. At any rate, that would be pretty handy long as it went on and
off from the front switch. I suppose as the margins got smaller the
sockets had to go.

IMO the best solution is a power center so you can control most
everything at the touch of a switch. I ended up building my own and
still ended up using a couple/three power strips for the greenest
operation<g>! Power cords & bricks seem to outnumber all the other
cabling put together and takes up a lot more space.

is still fully powered on and booted into a Windows session - so it
is NOT off.
