In Windows Mail, unknown errors and undeletable messages are often due to
interference from an antivirus program. What if any antivirus programs do
you
have, and have you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus program on that
computer, even one of the trial versions that often come already installed
on
new computers?

For a temporary fix, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other
folders. The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes
longer to install.

Hi, Gary!
This is a lame question, but one I don't know about....
How do I know whether to download the 32 or 64 bit Windows Vista updates?

To find out whether you have 32 or 64-bit Windows, click on Start,
then right-click on Computer and select Properties. The System applet
screen will appear, which has all that information.
You can also open the System applet from within Control Panel.
