recycle bin problem

Hello, Upgraded to WindowsXP Home SP2 + "all updates" from Windows98se. No
problems with the upgrade. This occured several days later.
The Recycle Bin functions, can add and delete items but I cannot see any
items.
The Recycle Bin icon shows when items are in or that it is empty.

Have in Folder Options- View "show hidden folders and files checked".
What do I need to do to rectify this problem.

Thank You for assistance in this matter.

take care.

This is a common bug when the file list gets corrupt. An easy fix: With the Recycle Bin
closed, RIGHT click the desktop Recycle Bin icon, then LEFT click: Empty Recycle Bin on
the context menu. Warning, the above will permanently delete anything that is already in
the Recycle Bin! But since you cannot gain access to those files, that should not matter
too much. Any item deleted after doing the above should then show in a list when the
Recycle Bin is opened, and the problem should be fixed...

Hello, Thank You. Your solution solved the problem. I used the delete button
on the toolbar as there was nothing in the recycle bin and I did not take
the time to place an item in the bin.
