Macfile problems

Evening All

One of my Win2k servers fell over this morning and came
back up with problems in two of its macintosh volumes. I
went through the various solutions to this as outlined in
KB147909, ending up removing File Services for Macintosh.

Now when I try to reinstall macfile I get the following
error.

"An error occurred which prevented the File Services for
Macintosh component from being installed or removed. The
error was 0x80070057."

I've not seen this error before, nor is it listed in the
KB. Anyone got any ideas?

The times I have seen that error is when something has ahold of the files.
Try this:

The following plan of action was recommended:
a) Uninstall 3rd party filter drivers - AV - Backup

try to add normally, if same error, continue on. :)

b) Make sure that AppleTalk has been removed from each network connection
properties sheet
c) Remove the following regkeys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AppleTalk
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MacFile
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MacPrint
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MacSrv
d) In safe mode delete the following files from both the system32 and
dllcache
folder:
Sfmsvc.exe
Sfmsrv.sys
Macfile.exe
e) Upon reboot run the command SFC /PURGECACHE
f) Try reinstalling SFM again
