Are there any advantages upgrading from 5.1.033.000 to 5.5.062.000.

I am running fine on 5,1. I am a great believer in "if it ain't broke don't
fix it". However if there are worthwhile improvements I will upgrade.

Probably fixes some exploit that was found.

Exactly why I'm still happily running ZA Pro 4.5.538.000. The 5x upgrade
was nightmarishly problematic for many users, and it's by no means the
first time a ZA "upgrade" was worse than the version it replaced. If your
version is stable and protecting you properly, you'd probably be best
advised to stick with it.

Ian.

On these WinXP Pro & Home the upgrades were done "over the top" without
any of those mis-adventures when ZA first went to that v5.x in May of
this year. Errghhh. The remembering is still traumatic. Not noticing any
significant differences, either bad or good in it's normal loading or
operations after the upgrade. The plan was do an "over the top" first,
then only if necessary do the uninstall/reinstall/reconfigure dance. But,
this time the easy way worked out just fine here.

Didn't 4.5 have an exploit that 5 fixed or was it only a particular
version of 4.5?

None that I'm aware of, but I could be wrong. I think even ZoneLabs
admitted that there's no real need to upgrade to 5.0 or beyond..

Yeah the biggest bugaboo with 5.0/5.1 was the inability to download from
the binary groups (yenc). This one fixes that, which was huge.

Just did a Google and there seems to be quite a few. I look at it a bit
like antivirus software and update it as and when a new version is
available.
