Hello

Does anyone have experience of Zone Alarm security Suite?

Atm I'm using this program as well as Windows Defender and also AVG Free
Edition.

As ZA Security Suite claims to offer all I need in pc security do I need to
be running AVG and Windows defender please?

Is there any advantage or drawback in duplicating these task?

TIA

i used it but uninstalled
it. i have also used others as
well.

however, i highly recommend
you simply use microsoft
firewall.

set it to "no exceptions" and
make sure you only have "one"
connection active.

in addition to your arsenal
you can also add these:

http://www.spybot.info/en/spybotsd/index.html

&

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm

a word of caution with
freeware: most anything
free has a catch 22 and spyware
is now disguised as freeware.

though the freeware may provide
a service for no money, it is
designed to report back what
it fixed or helped you with and
from where.

although this kind of spying may
not be of great consequence,
it is still a method of ascertaining
your internet activity that would
otherwise not be made available
if you hadn't used the freeware.

recently, there has been information
regarding spyware and bots out of
china disguised as a variety of freeware
able to help pc users in a multitude of
ways.

The one thing I'd take issue with there is your advice to use Windows own
firewall. In XP at least (I don't know about others) it only stops things
from getting in. If something is already in and wanting to "phone home",
XP's firewall can't stop it.

Using Windows SP2's default firewall is not recommended. It only
blocks "things" coming into the PC and going out.

Not familiar with Zone Alarm Suite but have used Zone Alarm Free
firewall. Very easy to use, control, configure and add "Internet"
accessable programs.

incidentally, you can
use this tool called
siw:

http://www.gtopala.com/

[i've chatted with the
programmer and it
has proven to be trustworthy].

go to the network
section, click on open
ports and check
for any ports opened by
third party software
without your knowledge
for calling home.
