I have Zone Alarm installed and everytime my computer
sit's idole for any time i have to reboot so I can connect
to the internet. I have disabled the built in firewall
that comes with windows xp and have shut off the
screensaver, standby mode and the sleep mode because that
is what zone alarm suggested. It worked better for awhile
and now it is so bad that once i disconnect and lock the
firewall I will have to restart to connect. please help I
am at a loss as to what to do.

Thank's

Hello Linda

Have you tried removing ZoneAlarm just to see what would
happen, give that a try, juts try it as a test

Linda,

how about using the firewall that's built into Windows XP? It
may not be as elaborate as Zone Alarm, but it's not going to
ruin your Internet connection either.

If Zone Alarm doesn't work properly, it has to be considered
defective.

Another good alternative would by Symantec's Norton Internet
Security, but my personal recommendation would be not to rely on
personal firewalls too much. They aren't as useful as many
people think. It may be a better idea to understand the risks
and counteract them directly. Use long enough passwords, for
example, disable network access to the guest account, etc.

Just to throw my two cents in here,
I am using XP Pro with a Dial Up Connection
and also using Zone Alarm Pro version 4.0.123.012
I have installed every Windows Update for XP.
I also use PC-cillin 2003, Ad-aware6 build 181, and Spybot 1.2
I am having no problems.
I always disable the PC-cillin 2003 before installing any
Windows Updates
