ZipGenius has too many bugs .... what other freeware zip programs work?

I installed the recommended ZipGenius based on threads in this newsgroup. I
have version 6.0.2.1060 and was 'learning it' when I found it has major
bugs.

I zipped 3 small txt files. Changed #1 and #2. Did a few drag and drops of
my txt files onto the zip file (there is a quick progress bar as something
happens) to find I sometimes end up with files #1, #1 and #2. Why dups and
what happened to #3?

Doesn't ANYTHING work right? I can't use this.
Is it just me or is ZipGenius pretty buggy?

What zip freeware is robust and recommended by users?

TIA,
Amanda W.

Hi jmatt,

Per previous discussions in ACF all Teknum Systems apps contain Malware
that's hard to remove. If that's changed please let me know.

Just got around to downloading & trying Zip&Go Susan, it's not too much

Did a search in my registry to find all the programs that I am testing
with updaters & there are quite a few, Adobe, Thunderbird, Weather are
some of them.

If the Teknum Updater software is not desired, uninstall it from your
system. Use an up-to-date antivirus or spybot removal program to
determine if the target computer is host to a spybot program.

dunno what "rated Low" refers to - if it's the security risk see below

I'm not sure what your point is. There are lots of updaters, some of
them are Malware. . .
"High Risk"
"Low risk"

You might want to take a look at this thread too (it's the second hit if
you Google for "Teknum"):

Try 7zip. It produces zip files in addition to its own formats with
better compression. It has a GUI but can also be run from the command
line. It is free and open source.
Some benchmarks: http://cs.fit.edu/~mmahoney/compression/text.html#1850

I've tried a ton of zip programs. I finally settled on TugZip. It's
free, works great, does everything I need it to, includes Winzip
compatible encryption. Comes in many languages and is actively being
developed.

Get it at www.tugzip.com.

I have used many Zip programs but I have finally settled on Quickzip
which can be downloaded from http://www.quickzip.org/ . QuickZip has
support for Zip, 7-Zip, Rar, Ace, LHA (LHA/LZH files), Cab, arj, et al.
