Having tried them *all* (that I've found over the years, anyway) I can say
that Zip Genius does everything I need and more, RAR, ZIP etc. etc. - even
built-in backup and FTP client. A bit on the large side for hard-drive
tightwads (Hi Boomer :-)), but it is solid, almost as quick as W**zip on my
machine, and very reliable. Cutter, an added file splicing tool, is I feel
un-necessary these days with Cdrs and re-writables etc., but for those with
floppies, very handy indeed, I'm sure.
I really do recommend this one, especially XP users.
Oh, I've no affiliation to the makers of ZG, just a happy bunny.

Hi Tony,

I'll give it a whirl.

Have you tried IZArc? It's very WinRAR-like, and I consider WinRAR to be the
best archiver, free of non-free.

The website is bugfree... hope the soft is also..

Great archiver. You'll like it.

I tried it. It's very competent, and definitely feature packed, but it goes
over the top for me. I guess I go to the Boomer school of skinny software.
ZipGenius does too many things that are unrelated to archiving for my
personal taste. Of course you already warned me, so I knew it was big and
complex. It appears to be a really good archiver, but not to my personal
liking.
