i need to send either send an excel workbook or copy it to a floppy. It is
32KB in size.
Q1. if i zip it will it fit onto a floppy ?
Q2. Do i need to zip it to e-mail it because of the size ?
Q3. How do i zip it. I heard that XP had a zip function but i cant find it.
I can extract files when they are in a zipped folder.
thanks

Seeing as a floppy disk has 1.44MB of storage, and your file is only 32KB,
you could store your file on a floppy disk without needing compression.

You shouldn't have any trouble sending a 32KB file via e-mail.

You would probably need to zip the file as some antivirus programs which
scan email will not allow a file which could carry such things a Macro Virus
onto the system. To Zip a file download the utility Winzip, its free for
trial here http://www.winzip.com/

Hi Steve,

32KB in size.

Certainly. A floppy will hold 1406KB or roughly 44 32KB files
Q2. Do i need to zip it to e-mail it because of the size ?

Nope, that's pretty small. I don't know of any email providers that would
take issue with a file of that size.
Q3. How do i zip it. I heard that XP had a zip function but i cant find
it.
I can extract files when they are in a zipped folder.

Right click the file, choose the option to send to --> compressed folder.

You're welcome.

32 KB ? It will fit if you don't zip it -- that's about 1/44th of
the capacity of a floppy.
Q2. Do i need to zip it to e-mail it because of the size ?

Depends on your mailer program, the recipient's mailer program,
restrictions imposed by your ISP, and restrictions imposed by the
recipient's ISP. But most likely the answer is No because the file is
small.

TO zip the file, right click and select "Send To..." and select "Compressed
Folder".
