I have an AMD 939 cpu cooler, Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU running now. I am building a new computer, MSI Z77A-GD55 motherboard that has an Intel 1155 socket. Is there any hardware available that would allow me to continue using the Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU? I found a Zalman ZM-CS5B clip support kit but I'm not sure that it will work. I would like to continue to use this cooler.

Not 100% sure but very probably not.

Sockets 939 and 1155 are very distinct and individual designs, I've built machines using both, and as I can remember I very much doubt if the Zalman cooler will fit the Intel processor.

Compatability for the Zalman you have is : Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478), AMD Duron / Athlon / Athlon XP (Socket 462), and Sempron / AMD64 (Socket 754 / 939 / 940)

Both sites list the 7000C. I have the 7000B. I don't know what the differance is with each one, if any?

You are correct, I never noticed the C. You could try a e-mail to Zalman. :)

Or thick rubber bands might do the job

Mind you,

Zalman CNPS7000B Super Flower Coolers

- Replaced by the Zalman CNPS7000C Super Flower Cooler

I found the above on the Quiet PC site . Also there is a spec sheet for the CPNS7000B. An at the Zalman site there is a spec sheet for the C version. Comparing the two there seems to be very little difference.

QuietPC may be willing to tell you if the cooler is suitable for your mobo.

I got a response from Zalman and thougt I would post it:

We apologize for the delayed response.

We currently do not have accessories for converting the CNPS7000B to be compatible with LGA 1155 systems. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you.

Regards,

Neat you got a reply from Zalman. :thumb:

Shame it was not what you wanted to hear :(

The CNPS7000B will make a nice table ornament. :thumb:

I have a spare one if you would like to make a matching pair for say, a mantlepiece.
