Hello i have a virus on my xp-system that deletes parts of my google toolbar and after a few days the whole toolbar is gone . my usual scanners didnt detect it . so i tried another one : returnil :
it found a few spys and quarantained them. I hope problem is solved. but as i was watching the last minutes of the scan i saw a curious thing: he was scanning a directory z:\ never heard about it. it contained a complede image of the windows xp. When i tried to restart igot a msg that part of windows was corrupt i should do a chkdsk. (dont know how. quite a noob here :( Anyone can tell me about it. Part of the virus??? of some kind of automatic backup??? pls help.IM still not sure if the virus is under control now.

Hi

Looks like this is a nasty Virus, I would suggest that you run the following tools below, if they do not help then I suggest you remformat and reinstall Windows. (Please note to backup any important data before you reinstall windows as this will be lost)

With regards to the Z drive if this is a shop bought pc then this could be the recovery drive?
