I used the z test in data analysis to test whether the
mean of two sets of scores were statistically
significant. What I do not understand is how to
interpret the results for th z test Excel returns. Can
anyone help?

It says it gives you the two-tailed p value which is the area to the right
on the right side and the area to the left of the left side for the test
value you come up with in your hypothesis test. (obviously you would come
up with either a positive or negative value representing the standard
score - so this would be two times the area away from the mean, starting
with this point.

In a traditional hypothesis test, you would compare this area to your alpha
level.
