Hi Folks.

Any ideas when your computer cannot be restored?

Was working before 7 updates. Removed them individually,
however, I still can't restore to when IE 6 was working properly
as a browser. What I wanted to work on my computer works
on all my visitors computers, and also inside my FP 2002.

Clicking on thumbnails at http://unclgus.com/slideshowtutorial6pak.htm
gives me a security error in IE 6 browser, but visitors say it works for
them.

Was working for me on Saturday, but not Monday. Tried restoring to
Saturday & got the "Your Computer Cannot be Restored". Also on subsequent
tries to restore Sunday & Monday.

Any help will be appreciated.

Gus

Have you emptied your cache lately? In IE, tools, Internet Options, delete files.

Hi Mary,

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I usually keep my computer clean & up to date, however, at the young old age of 80, I don't consider myself perfect, and to be on the safe side I cleaned out all caches & started restore again . . . Darn it, same old message popped up, "Your computer cannot be restored."

Have done everything, sfc, went through registry with a magnifing glass, so, I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Best regards

Gus

Hi Gus!
I've visited your other site and love your pictures! Incredible shots! Have
no clue how you manage to keep those birds in place long enough to get their
picture but am glad that they are so obliging for you. (Have visited the
Lake Class site many times too :) )

It sounds like you have some form of Jave VM installed or you wouldn't be
able to get this working in Front Page... I don't see anything fancy in the
HTML source code that would be a problem. Have you checked security settings
in your browser? Tried adding your site to trusted sites? Tried the site
without a popup blocker or other internet helper running? Using an antivirus
program that blocks any kind of scripting? If the program allows it, add the
site to its exclude or trusted list.

Just in case you need it:
How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows
XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318378

May have to reinstall the JVM after a repair.

Regards and best wishes,

Thanks Sharon,

After 4 hours, of uninstalling IE6 in the registry, then re-installing it with 2+ hours of updates, I, at least have "Restore" working again.

The security thing 175622 - PRB: SecurityExceptionEx Exception Running a Java Applet:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=175622 I got from Jim Pickering is rather daunting for this 80 year young Swede, however, I will give it a go.

David Griffiths's lake.class default link to his site is now a nasty set of popups that I have updated the fix for at http://unclgus.com

Your idea of re-installing VM 3810 is certainly worth a try. Though all my Java is working, including Snow Slideshows except for Lake Slideshows.

Appreciate your help young lady, and believe the best man for the job is quite often a woman.

Back in the MSN news groups when Win95 surfaced, the MVP's, both MS & MSN (Ferguson one of MSN original members ~ MS was smart enough to grab him when MSN disbanded) were like the blind leading the blind, with Patty LaBarge (MS Engineer then) keeping us honest!! WOW! what a gal!!!

I sure appreciate your help.

Keep smiling

Gus
