I was born in Stoke-on-Trent and the Pottery Industry was synomonous to my upbringing and area ..what were/are yours ???

Oh dear this is not a good one for me...

Born in Blackpool and I suppose general seaside crappiness is synonymous to that delightful area.

Moved to Dorset when I was 1yrs old and farming is what most people associate with there (oi've gaht a brahn noo comboin 'aaarvester etc)

So I'm a country-bumpkin turned city girl! :)

The reason i posted this thread was i saw Taffycat and Caerphilly and thought "cheese" ..wrongly or rightly :)

I was born in Birkenhead.

So I'm synonymous with lots of scally tea-leaves I suppose

Saw on the BBC online news tonight a plan to open a John Peel Centre in the old disused town hall in Birkenhead has been proposed.

If that happened it would please me a great deal :)

So, what's synonymous with Birkenhead?

The Mersey Ferry?

The central Park?

Day trips to New Brighton?

Tranmere Rovers?

I honestly don't know

If you want to talk about where I am now however.... I could write a book ;)

Bex was born in Blackpool eh? Well I never, that was a surprise.

A big roller coaster, a tower and oodles of tacky souvenirs and kiss me quick hats :)

Could have been worse, might have been Southwold... :D

I have to say flopps ya left your self wide open with this one and ya did tell me to try harder so i would have to say Birks:p

I come from dublin which is synonomous for the dubliners( irish trad).
Also dublin is where guinness was first brewed.
Also the dublin city marathon

.

Incidentally Sexy Bex...dublin is irish for blackpool....dubh=black, linn=pool.

Oi Rush, who are you calling cheesy!:p

I was born in Cardiff - synonymous with "Tiger Bay," Shirley Bassey, the "Arms Park" Rugby stadium, Clarks Pie shop... to name but a few.

Now I live in the aforementioned cheese-mining territory. :D

Should that not be alright Geezah :p

Zzzzz

Nope, 'Geezer' is perfectly proper innit.

I always think of the pier railway and the Kurssal when I hear Southend.

Of course the Kurssal is long gone :(

Hartlepool and monkey hanging? That's a new one on me.

When I hear Newcastle I think of five bridges and gazza.

And feckit, London's a big place - which part were you thrust upon the world from?

During the Napoleonic Wars a French ship ran aground off Hartlepool. The crew were made prisoner but a monkey found on the ship was hanged in the town.

Ever since then the citizens of the town have been labelled as simpletons for hanging the monkey but, of course, it was really just a patriotic gesture.

But, the simpleton story has remained in place so I am an official Monkey Hanger ( and a moron to everyone in the North East). :) :D
