I am using a Windows XP Pro computer, loaded with Office
97. Each time when I open a xls file from Windows
Explorer, system will prompt an warning message "A
document with the name 'AAA.xls' is already open. You
cannot open two documents with the same name, even if the
documents are in different folders. To open the second
documents, either close the document that's currently
open, or rename one of the documents." I have to click
the "OK" button to close this message. But I was opening
one xls file only, this happens to any xls files that I
opened using Explorer. If I open the same xls file from
Excel, I will not get this warning.

I suspect this is a program bug, anyone knows how to get
rid of this warning message ? Thanks.

Open the files from Excel
Clear out your Temp directories
Reboot your computer
Save files on your hard drive not a network drive

Hi I've followed your instructions, however one file
called ZLT0285a.TMP can't be deleted from the windows
temp directory. The problem still persists. Thanks.
