When using IE6 I frequently get the above message and part of the web page
will not display. It seems to be related to advertising on some web sites.

I use two browsers. IE6 and Crazy Browser
http://www.crazybrowser.com/ . There are certain advertising parts of some
web pages, such as on yahoo mail that IE6 won't allow, but Crazy Browser
will. It's not that I necessarily want to see the ad, but that it is
annoying to continually have messages as above, on many pages.

Thanks

Hi John :-)

You don't mention which version of IE6 or Windows you have, so I will
address the issue for you generally, assuming your are using XP. Try the
following and see if it helps:

First, is there any number associated with the message? Such as 404 or 403
or Forbidden?

You receive a "you are not authorized to view this page" error message when
you try to access an external Web site that requires authentication

also....

Set your Security to Med.
View the Browsers How-to regarding updating your browser security settings.

and setting your browser to medium-level security

For best security set Active X settings to:

My settings are for Active X are:
Prompt
Disable
Disable
Prompt

also.........

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer - Windows XP Service
Pack 2:

also....

Click Star Click on Start -- Run
Type Regsvr32 softpub.dll
and
REGSVR32 JSCRIPT
Click OK

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Sorry about the tardy reply. I've been busy doing other things.

A couple of questions about your advice:

- Settings for Active X. I couldn't match up Active X questions with your
settings. So, I assume you are in the Custom Level of Security tab of
Internet Options in the Tools menu. Could you please type in the options
with your settings beside them?

- Next, I have a problem with allowing active content ... when the
reference you give me recommends it to eliminate a prompt. This is not my
problem.

- I ran those 2 commands in Start Run and I don't know what they did.

Anyway, the problem seems to occur in the Yahoo! pages, so should I contact
them?

Thanks

John
