Yo Again.

Thanks for the recommend on hotkey master. I liked it except I
couldn't get it to work for what I wanted. When the hotkey forces notepad to
save the cursor tends to jump backwards 2 to 4 spaces. I suspect that when
hotkey forces the save it only allows the computer to complete this operation
and the cursor does not continue moving ahead with the typing.

Let me see if I can be more clear. I am looking for a program that
will save while the students are typing. They should not need to stop typing
for the automatic save to occur.

It's almost as if I need a macro program like hotkey that will allow me
to run a macro that occurs in notepad when there is an adequate pause for the
macro to complete a save.

Does anybody know of another program to recommend or additional
thoughts or maybe a workaround.

How did you set it up?

1 - Create a hotkey
2 - Give it a name (eg Autosave)
3 - Add a Timer activator
4 - Set it to "Activate periodically every:" 5 minutes (or whatever interval)
5 - Add a "Window" command
6 - Set it to "Switch to specified window"
7 - Click the . button to select the target window
8 - Drag the window selector to an open Notepad window (you might have to click hide HKM)
9 - Uncheck the Title field
10 - Add a "Keyboard Macro" command
11 - Press <Ctrl+S> (make sure that <Ctrl+S> is the only item in the editor list)
12 - Make sure that the Keyboard Macro command comes after the Window command
13 - Click OK

I just tested it and it works.

Man I still can't get it to work. The cursor still jumps back.

I have an ancient keyboard? Possibly short of ram? Virus like behavior?
I tried automation 6.1. Cursor was jumping back with automation 6.1 also.

Calling forth experts !
