My fancy Logitech (bought March 2009) might be failing. Among
other earlier mentioned oddities, the charging light is behaving
erratically. I probably will try opening it and using canned air
to remove dust. But if I'm really lazy, I might just buy another
mouse.
The MX Revolution has a second wheel on the side that can be used
for volume control. The wheel movement is too stiff, but it works
well enough to use regularly for volume control. The button
function is way too stiff IMO to use for anything. And I stopped
using the left and right tilt button functions years ago, for fear
that the design was not robust enough to handle the gymnastics.
What other mice are good for volume control?
Some Logitech mice allow using the main wheel as volume control
while using another button as a "shift" modifier?
Logitech has a multimedia mouse, but that's well over $100.
I also need the gear switching "MicroGear" flywheel feature
present on some Logitech mice. If you have nimble fingers, you
need to experience freewheeling with THUNK technology. It's the
THUNK feeling you get after flicking the wheel into high-speed
rotational motion and then slightly turning the wheel in the other
direction. THUNK!
My MX Revolution THUNK is working perfectly.
Thanks.
