Yikes!

I was hunting for room on my laptop and used XP Add or Delete Programs
to delete an application but the sub-directory went too.

I just noticed and it was some time ago - I can't remember the date,
so System restore doesn't look as if it'll work.

I'd like to get the subdirectory back if possible - any
suggestions ?

A long long long long time ago Norton had some software that found
deleted files and you could tell from portions of the names which one
would restore - is anything like that around today?

Thanks !

First check the Recycle Bin. Second, system restore will not help you
as it only restores the Windows registry values and a few Windows
system files. It does not restore any applications files or folders.
Third, you are making backups, aren't you? If so, restore it from
backup. Lastly there are undelete programs out there but since you say
that this happened "some time ago," the odds that something else has
overwritten that part of memory is high and the folder and its files
are lost. Try doing a Google search for: Windows Undelete. Good luck.

Yes there are still plenty of undelete utilites around...
but you would have had to have stopped using your machine at once...
then have run the utility from another machine with the drive slaved to it.
By now the data is more than likely over-written...
