Yet another importing contacts question...

Sorry to ask another question about import/export but I need help.
I backed up my Outlook contacts and calendar on a floppy in .pst files. My
computer crashed so I have a new one now. I would like to load my calendar
and contacts into my new Outlook. I see from previous posts that I didn't do
it the ideal way but is there any way to retrieve them from the .pst files I
have?

Put the PST file on your hard drive. Remove its read only attribute. Then
use the File > Open command in Outlook to open it. Copy what you want from
it into your current PST file.
If you'd rather, you can also reset Outlook to use your old PST as its
default instead of its current PST file. Method depends on your Outlook
version which you need to include when you post.
 
Thanks for your help. I tried but it says that the file you chose is not a
valid Outlook Data file. Any further suggestions? I'm using Outlook 2002.

How did you create this file?
Have you run the Inbox Repair Tool on it to check it for errors?

I'm a beginner so bear with me please. Maybe I'm not putting it on the hard
drive correctly. The Read-only box wasn't checked. How do I get it from the
floppy to the hard drive? Sorry - I'm sure this is elementary stuff.

Simply copy the file from your floppy to any location on your hard drive.
Once it is there, R click the File and look at its Properties. Make sure the
Read only box is cleared.
If you created the file correctly, you will be able to open it in Outlook
using the File > Open....command.
