Yet another HDD story.

Today I removed a second drive from a system(win98se) where it never got
used and was always empty(Quantum 15 gig). I placed it in a bay to exchange
between systems one being an XP Pro box. It shows as being free other than a
few megs of photos but now I place this drive in one 98se system and it now
appears to be completely populated with the files of an old OS left over
from being drive C in another system. To see this is to believe it so I
check again and same results over and over. Does anyone have an
explaination?

Might have had more than one primary partitions, and the one you're
seeing now was hidden until you looked at it under XP. XP with it's
disk manager shows a lot more than earlier versions of Windows, which
you had to hide/unhide additional primary partitions with Fdisk before
the OS would see them.

boot record to get the original mfg's &hit off it. Be forewarned though that
the "fdisk /mbr" command can have it's own consequences if there is data on
the drive you want to retrieve. Usually not, but there is a chance.
Type "fdisk /mbr" off a boot disk command prompt.

This drive MAY have been the one that was originally in this Pavillion but
I can't say for sure. I didn't even know I had the data so no loss. Just
extreme curiosity driven to know what and how.
