It looks like freeware (it's GNU, and I believe that is a type of
freeware?? Sorry for the newbiness re this).
http://sourceforge.net/projects/yosucker/

This has become a really serious aggravation and annoyance, YahooPOPs!
v0.6 has been replicating emails something awful. It got to the point
that I'd be away from my computer for a bit only to come back to 2000
messages, all repeats, and my Outlook PST file (this is the file all
mails saved to) bloated up about 1/4 of a GIG!!

I've gone to the forum but nothing is getting resolved. I've been
recommended to go back to v0.5 which I did. Then I very soon
remembered why I'd gone to find solution and switched to v0.6 in the
first place. Here's the deal, v0.5 no longer sends mail, I can get
mail just fine and it was a relief to have 3 hours of regular email
reception and not 20 - 25 copies of each msg but then I had a bunch of
messages sit in the outbox overnight and they won't go through. So I
uninstalled v0.5 and went back to 0.6. Awful to immediately get 20 to
30 copies of mail and now even 0.6 won't send. So I'm fed up with
YP!, as can be imagined. 2 weeks ago I cut back, to my loss, all my
yahoo groups from 44 to 11 and still it's a serious problem. So
looking for a solution.

Anyone worked with Yosucker, esp. with new yahoo? Work okay?

Thanks!

One of the developers posted an updated component in this thread:

&file=viewtopic&t=1523&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Seems to be a successful fix for the respondents following his post.

The fix worked for me for a couple of days but YPops has 'broken'
again - dunno if this is cos I've since installed SP2.

Anyway, I'm going to monitor the Ypops forum for a while :)

Despite the fact that John Latter says in a later msg in this thread
that this has also stopped working for me, I've dl and installed it
and will give it a try. Rebooting now. Will report back.

Phew, really do hope this does the trick, though. It's been a rough 3
weeks! <g>

The new patch and dll file seem to have done the trick (KNOCK ON WOOD!
<g>). For 2 days now have been getting my mail okay and no repeats.
The mail seems to be getting deleted from the server just fine now, so
far. But I cannot send mail. I've posted a msg at the forum, but
with the YP forum, it's always very slow going and no response as yet.

I get a localhost error and was hoping, since the YP problem was
resolved here and I got nowhere on the forum itself, that someone here
might now the solution to this, too <g>.

The error message is this:

"The SMTP server name you specified cannot be found Please check the
name and try again."
And it shows "localhost" in the box.

The settings are identical to when I was able to send mail so this is
weird. I even removed the server and added it once more to my Outlook
accounts, but no go.

Has anyone had this type of problem and managed to fix it?

Thanks.

I have never used YPops or the like but in any other application that I have
used if I get the localhost cannot be found error try substituting 127.0.0.1
in place of Localhost, see if that works.
