When you upload your pictures to Yahoo Photos. The image file should remain on your PC, a "copy" of the file is sent to their servers.
But consider the following before uploading to Yahoo Photos:
1. If you got the image from a digital camera, or used a scanner, and saved it to PC.
a. Create a 2nd folder, on your PC, for the finished "edited" image files.
b. Open each Image file one by one in a photo editing program.
c. Do any resizing, cropping, or color changes you desired. This may be necessary since many "unedited" or "raw" images, from a camera or scanner, can be over 100 KB to several MB in size, when first saved to your PC. You may have to experiment with the editing program, so that the final image files saved are not much larger than 100KB each. Your friends and family will appreciate if they are viewing baby/family photos through the Yahoo site, and while using the slide show feature.
d. Save the "edited" image file to the 2nd folder you created. Keep the "Raw" image folder temporarily, until you are satisfied with the results. And either delete it, or copy to CD, for later use.
e. Then use Yahoo's Photo Tool, or manually add photos to a Yahoo Album. Depending on your ISP service, you may chose to limit the number of files for each upload. If you have a slow connection, consider uploading a couple at a time. If you have broadband/cable then you can upload more, each time. That is why step# "1.c." is important to do, before the upload.
f. Make sure that you chose a viewing size for the file, that is easily scene, which is set in the Yahoo Photo tool or using the upload wizard, Yahoo provides. You don't want to upload photos, that can only be viewed in "thumbnail" scale.
g. If these are baby/family photos, consider creating a separate Yahoo ID for this. And when you create the Photo Albums, consider "password protecting" the albums. Only giving out the password, to people that really should have access to them.

I have downloaded the Cannon Zoom Browser program, and the pictures that I
have, I would like to move my pictures to the Yahoo Photos so I can email
these photos to family. What route can I go without loosing my Photos..
