I am trying to set up the windows mail with yahoo and this is the error i
keep recieving, i am in the u.s. thanks

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Emailing: IMG000005',
Account: 'POP3', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

ok i got it to send but now cant recieve? i found out the sbcglobal servers
were different

Yes, a special case. SBC (now AT&T) partners with Yahoo for mail service.
Your sbcglobal.net account will require different settings than what you
are using. See
http://helpme.att.net/article.php?item=10918

Don't use the automatic tool mentioned there, use the
"Make the Changes Manually" section.

I responded a few minutes ago in the "Yahoo mail with Vista help" thread.
Please keep the topic title (subject header) the same for one issue,
since that enables easier tracking of a specific issue's history.

After you apply all the changes, if you still get an error message, copy it
and post it here.

message...

Account: 'POP3', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server

I suspect that the setting...

Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > Advanced >
Incoming Mail (POP3) This server requires a secure connection (SSL)

should be unchecked.

Give it a try and repost any subsequent messages.

this is now the error:

Account: 'POP3', Server: 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR popgate unknown command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

That's odd. Your server name seems to have changed
from 'pop.att.yahoo.com' to 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com'
Did you change it as well as the SSL setting?

If so you have made analysis difficult by changing
two parameters at the same time.

BTW are you using antivirus software and if so which?

im sorry yes i changed it because i found a different website but either way
i cant recieve...yes antivirus software is nod32

thanks

That may be a problem. Windows Mail is notoriously
sensitive to antivirus software. I suggest...

Step 1. Disable email scanning then retry.

If problem persists...

Step 2. Uninstall anti-virus entirely, delete and recreate your email
account
within Windows Mail. Close and reopen Windows Mail then retry.

If problem persists post any messages here.

If the problem is solved install either AVG or Avast antivirus software
both of which are tried, tested and free.

the folooi

From the settings I gave you earlier, the incoming server name should
be pop.att.yahoo.com, port number 995, SSL enabled.
You can probably make the error go away by unchecking the box for
"Log on using secure password authentication".
