I'll check it out, thanks.
Yo Chief,

It doesn't exactly do what I need. When I click on the tray icon, I need go
go directly to my Yahoo! Mail inbox.

I have PopTray, which works well with POP accounts, but doesn't support
webmail accounts.

I need a program to notify me when I have email in my Yahoo! Mail
account.

I haven't used "Pop Peeper" recently but the programer was to develop it to
check Hotmail and Yahoo. Might be worth checking out.

POPpeeper works well for me. Checks Yahoo, Hotmail, Webmail and POP accounts.

And I can weed out spam, even preview dubious contents safely with the option
"view as rich text" (ie NOT as html) which I set as default.

Happy user here.

Eprompter does about the same, but for some reason PP is more to my taste.

Seems to work well, but it's including the messages I've read. How
can I get it to detecting only unread messages (aside from manually
deleting the read ones.

Try selecting 'download only unread emails', in the configuration area.

Right click the yahoopops systray icon, select configure, email
preferences, receiving email, and in the 'download email category',
check the download only unread emails option.

Cheers

Thanks.

trillian 0.74 (the last free version of this client) has the new mail
arrival feature implemented in its core. The question is, however, do you
want to have a multi-chat program running all the time, just for a prompt?
Be sure to d/l tha yahoo security patches as well.
