So what happens when you uninstall and reinstall it?

The same thing happens, it will download, but when I try to log in, it
disappears and won't let me sign in at all.

Since you posted in the MSAS group, you suspect MSAS is at fault. What
happens when you disable MSAS, reboot, and retry Yahoo IM?

Yes, I know it is related to the MSAS. I know someone at my desk saw a note
asking if a file could be updated and they said no. I saw this in the View
Security Agent Events that the file was blocked. When I disable the MSAS and
reboot & retry yahoo it still does the same thing. I am guessing something is
still on this computer blocking this from happening, but I have no idea where
the information is stored or how to fix it.
But I do thank you for all your input. :)

I would have thought that a *fresh* install (after an uninstall) would have
put Yahoo IM in the same state as before (without MSAS around to interfere).
Regardless of what update there is for the product, the initial install
wouldn't require it as that is something they came out later with. Was the
blocked update for Yahoo IM or for something, like an OS update?

I suppose you could also try System Restore using a checkpoint from before
the update was blocked.
