I am using WIndows xp (Home Edition)
From time to time I find that Yahaoo is automatically downloaded onto my
computer without my permission or knowledge, this is someting I have not
asked for and do not want-I am alreadudy running Google..
Each time I uninstall it via 'add & remove programs', deleting any remaing
files from 'file explorer' and other files from the 'registry' as required
which of course takes time.
Is there any way I can prevent this download?

I believe it is when you update "Adobe Shockwave" , there is an option to
install Yahoo and if you didn't look closely and notice it and uncheck the
option Yahoo gets installed.

Yahoo what? Toolbar?

These toolbars are never installed without permission. There is always an
option to not install, though it may be a "negative option", where you have
to de-select the toolbar.

The issue becomes one of making sure all of the machine's users pay
attention to what they download and install, and what included when they do.
