I have 3 different computers here in the shop, and all
have the same error after doing the Critical Update. I am
a very small service shop, and I have 3, I'm thinking that
the cities are swamped. Is there an easy way out of this
error......C0000135, can't find winserv....????
What is causing this error? I tried the uninstall from
the recovery console, and that works, except then it goes
into a circle for updates!!!! Keeps downloading 2 of the
same updates. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi

From a previous post bu MS-MVP Carey Frisch:

That error means the 'winsrv.dat' or 'winsrv.dll' file is missing
or corrupt in the Windows\System32 folder, or more likely that
the registry is corrupt.

After performing a "Repair Install", reinstall SP2.

Thanks for the reply Michael. I have done that, but the
SP2 still won't go in, actually let me rephrase, it goes
in and then gives the can't find winserv error again. I
haven't been able to pick out the common component between
the systems.

I've read that doing a repair install with a slipstreamed CD will do the
trick. I haven't tried it myself as the one computer with that issue is gone
now. If you try it and it works -- or if you find anything else that
works -- let us know.
