Hi Everyone an all have a great day. I read that Symantec is buying Sygate
and that the will end the Sygate program. If so what should we do when XPs
firewall is Sygate. I don't know enough about firewalls so if I need to
install anouther one would anyone have any suggestions as to a good one. I am
just a slow dialup user and only have a AMD 1700+. I run around the web a lot
but don't do gameing. Thanks all for your help.JJ

Why change? If the one you have installed works now, it will keep on
working after somebody buys the company. Obviously updates might not be
available, but I wouldn't worry until (and if) you NEED an update.
Microsoft doesn't like to admit it, but just because a piece of software
isn't the most recent version doesn't mean it's obsolete or won't do its
job.

Use your Sygate firewall for as long as you want. What may happen is that
eventually you will not be able to get updates or upgrades for it anymore
but that may be a while yet and it probably would function fine even without
such unless some critical security flaw was found which is probably not
likely as it has proven to be a robust product. My guess is that there will
always be a quality free firewall available and XP has it's own Windows
Firewall which while as not full featured still provides excellent
protection with minimal additional overhead and configuration. --- Steve
