I have my computer set up with XP professional and for auto updates. Every
time I log on, the computer begins the update for service pac 3 but won't
complete the update. Every time, the computer prompts for a c.d. When I
have tried my download c.d., the computer doesn't recognize it as the same
version on my computer. It is not a new c.d. but the one originally used to
download XP. Whaddup?

Service Pack 3 for what??? Not XP

XP Office maybe OR Windows 2000?
If Office XP or Windows 2000 you will need the disk for that....

How is this a Frontpage question? when you say "XP Professional" are you
taking about Windows XP Pro or Office XP Pro ?

Neither has Frontpage included.

The latest service pack for Windows XP is #2.

I'd suggest you try microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup.

Download XP? That's illegal for starters. You should have purchased it in a
shop.

Seeing you have the disk I assume you've used "download" to mean "install
the software on your computer" (from the CD).

As it stands, office doesn't work, office updates don't update, XP sucks (my
sister the-not-any-more-helpful-than-you computer geek 'installed' it - to be
technical, you knew what I meant and how is that helpful anyway), Yahoo!
shuts down my computer every time I open it, MSN is ... MSN, and this is a
front page issue because the error message specifically mentions front page.
I am sure you guys mean well, but on the computer, you've got the personality
of a crowbar.

This is the error message:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-Rom or other removable disk
that is not available.

Insert the 'Microsoft OfficeXP Professional with FrontPage' disk and click OK

Use source:

Microsoft OfficeXP Professional with FrontPage"

Then, after inserting the disk the error message is that the version on the
disk is not compatible with the version on the computer in that the computer
version is newer.
